Because the thermal expansion property of these alloys is as low as that of Si, they are most suitable for precision equipment parts.
These alloys feature very low thermal expansion property, which is about 1/10 that of common metals or alloys.
The chart below shows that the elongation percentage of the low thermal expansion alloys is very low as compared with that of iron (Fe), especially, when the temperature is lower than 200°C or 300°C.
